As of Wednesday morning, the book&#8217;s listing had been entirely scrubbed from Amazon. However, a <a href=\"https:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:-vkVydqLMVcJ:https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Expect-Unexpected-Lessons-Service-Forward\/dp\/1426222459+&amp;cd=2&amp;hl=en&amp;ct=clnk&amp;gl=us&amp;client=safari\">cached version of the listing<\/a>, still displayed the book&#8217;s promotional description and preorder status.<\/p>\n<p>A cached website also shows <a href=\"https:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:XP7dkI7iXdQJ:https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/expect-the-unexpected-anthony-fauci\/1139440641+&amp;cd=2&amp;hl=en&amp;ct=clnk&amp;gl=us&amp;client=safari\">the book&#8217;s listing on Barnes &amp; Noble&#8217;s website<\/a>, though by Wednesday morning that listing was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/noresults\/9781426222450?_requestid=2590984\">no longer live anymore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The book appeared to still be available for preorder on some lesser known vendors such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.booktopia.com.au\/expect-the-unexpected-anthony-fauci\/book\/9781426222450.html\">Booktopia<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The scrubbing of the book comes after backlash from critics who accused Fauci of profiting off of the deadly pandemic the U.S. response to which he has overseen.<\/p>\n<p>Among those criticizing Fauci is Fox News Channel contributor Joe Concha, who compared him to New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo signing a seven-figure book deal about his efforts during the pandemic, which resulted in a high number of death among assisted-living residents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you look at the numbers again, you had Cuomo profiting off a pandemic, a government official,&#8221; said Concha, also a media reporter for The Hill newspaper. &#8220;Now we have Fauci doing it as well. I think this is appalling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Daily Caller writer Greg Price <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1399782712853082119\">slammed<\/a> Fauci for &#8220;publishing a book and [becoming] the highest paid federal government employee while you lost your business and had your kids out of school for a year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows <a href=\"https:\/\/americasvoice.news\/video\/9SFn384qjwjDvIX\/\">told &#8220;Just the News AM&#8221;<\/a> on Wednesday that Fauci likely &#8220;got paid more than Andrew Cuomo&#8221; for the book.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;ll get paid unbelievable amounts of money to tell all from his perspective,&#8221; Meadows told show host Sophie Mann.<\/p>\n<p>The cached listings describe the book as offering &#8220;inspiration in [Fauci&#8217;s] unique perspective on leadership, expecting the unexpected, and finding joy in difficult times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With more than three decades spent combating some of the most dangerous diseases to strike humankind \u2013 AIDS, Ebola, COVID-19&#8211;Dr. Fauci has worked in daunting professional conditions and shouldered great responsibility,&#8221; it continues. &#8220;The earnest reflections in these pages offer a universal message on how to lead in times of crisis and find resilience in the face of disappointments and obstacles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fauci was also part of former President Trump&#8217;s coronavirus task force and is the director of the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Disease.<\/p>\n<p>The book listing also said the book will offer readers &#8220;inspiring words of wisdom &#8230; centered around life lessons compiled from hours of interviews, offering a concrete path to a bright and hopeful future.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fauci: pandemic progenitor and profiteer&#8221;Book will allegedly offer &#8220;universal advice to live by&#8221; By Daniel Payne White House coronavirus adviser and long-time U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci&#8217;s upcoming book has been scrubbed from and altered on online listings, amid criticism that he is profiting from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
